About APIDrift

API changelog monitoring built by developers, for developers. We watch your dependencies so you can ship with confidence.

The story

Why APIDrift exists

Modern software depends on dozens of third-party APIs, SDKs, and libraries. Stripe for payments, Twilio for messaging, AWS for infrastructure, Prisma for data access. Every one of them ships updates, deprecations, and breaking changes on their own schedule.

For most teams, discovering a breaking change happens the worst possible way: in production, after users start reporting errors. The changelog was updated weeks ago, but nobody saw it. The deprecation notice was buried in a release note that nobody subscribed to.

APIDrift was built to fix this. Instead of manually checking changelog pages, GitHub releases, and RSS feeds across every dependency, APIDrift monitors them automatically. When something changes, AI classifies the severity, generates a plain-English summary, and alerts you before your next deploy.

The founder

Built by Torstein Skulbru

APIDrift is built and maintained by Torstein Skulbru, a software engineer based in Norway with over 15 years of experience building production systems.

Currently at Ditio — a construction tech startup — and previously at TV 2 — Norway's largest commercial broadcaster — and Tietoevry, Torstein has spent his career working on systems where reliability and uptime matter. That experience is what drives APIDrift: the conviction that developers should never be surprised by upstream changes.

APIDrift is an indie product, built with care and a focus on doing one thing well: keeping you informed about the APIs you depend on.

The product

What APIDrift does

APIDrift continuously monitors API changelogs, GitHub releases, RSS feeds, and documentation pages across your dependency stack. When a change is detected, it runs through an AI classification pipeline that determines the type, severity, and impact of the change.
